First Decade: We pray for The Unborn
Prostrated before You, oh Lord, Source and Lover of Life, truly present and alive among us, we beg You to reawaken in us respect
for the dignity of every unborn human life. Open our hearts to generously welcome every child that is conceived as a unique and
wonderful gift. Help us to choose life in every decision we make. We ask this in the joyful hope of eternal life with You and in the
communion of the Blessed Trinity. Amen. (Adapted from Pope Benedict XVI’s prayer for the unborn, Nov. 2010)
Second Decade: We pray for Family Life
Dear God, bless all families. Sanctify the union of spouses in marriage – between man and woman – and render fruitful their love.
Especially in this time of the Covid-19 pandemic, bring together and keep all families in perfect unity of love and mutual support.
Instil in each member, the spirit of understanding and affection for each other that we come to realise that our family is a place
of refuge. Grant that God who is pure love, strengthened by the grace of the sacrament of marriage, may prove mightier than all
the weaknesses and trials through which our families sometimes pass. Through the intercession of the Holy Family of Nazareth,
grant that the Church may fruitfully carry out her worldwide mission in and through the family. We ask this of You, Who are Life,
Truth and Love with the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Third decade: We pray for The Children and Youth of our Nation
O God, we beseech You to guide and protect, from the moment of conception, the children and youth of our nation, from all the
dangers that are ever present in our world today. This Covid – 19 pandemic has also challenged the mental, emotional and
physical health of our youth, bring them to know You as friend, protector and Saviour, a God of Mercy. Through the power of the
Holy Spirit, may they come to deeply know and experience Your loving care. Journey with and strengthen them as they
experience sickness and health, sorrow and joy, loneliness and friendship, success and failure. Gracious God, grant them the
courage and wisdom to make right and holy choices as they journey through life in these times. We make this prayer through
Christ Our Lord. Amen
Fourth Decade: Our Nation
God our Father, Giver of life, we thank You for protecting our Nation from the full wrath of the Covid-19 and pray for Your
Mercy on the world. We entrust the nation of Trinidad Tobago to Your loving care. Blessed with the name La Trinité, reclaim this
land for Your glory and dwell among Your people. Give us wisdom and generosity to build a society that cares for all. Help those
who make our laws to uphold the dignity, uniqueness and sacredness of every human life from the moment of conception to
natural death. Guide the choices of Parliament with the light of Your Spirit so that this nation will recognize and respect the
sacred nature of life, of every human life. Preserve our nation’s laws according to Your Holy decrees. We ask this of the Father,
the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen
Fifth Decade: The Catholic Church
Heavenly Father, look upon our community of faith which is the Church of Your Son, Jesus Christ, Help us to witness to His love
by loving all our fellow human creatures without exception. Protect Your Church from the effects of this Covid-19 pandemic
especially against practices which may be displeasing to you in any way. Under the leadership of the Holy Father and the Bishops,
keep us faithful to Christ’s true mission of calling all men and women to your service so that there may be truly “one fold and one
shepherd.” May the power of Your mercy, O Lord, shatter and bring to naught all that might tarnish the sanctity of priests,
religious and the laity, for You can do all things. We ask this through Christ, our Lord. Amen.
